He tragically left behind his wife Caroline, his daughter Shannon and her husband Alan, his stepchildren Emily and Matthew, his parents Addie and Peter at Ferndale, his sister Sheri and brothers, Joe, Pat, Rick and Glenn, as well as many close friends and associates. His daughter jokingly said, and Randy often and proudly repeated, that Randy didn’t believe in God because he didn’t think there was anyone greater than himself. However, Randy strongly believed in family and friends. He was not one for small talk, but was always ready to help someone in need with no problem too small. He told you exactly where you were going wrong, but never made you feel foolish. Once Randy took you on, you were his for life. He was loyal beyond measure to his friends, and a devoted husband, father, stepfather, father-in-law, son, son-in-law, and brother. Randy was born in Placentia, Newfoundland. Randy had many chapters in his life, including running a horse farm, working for a lumber company, and most recently, practicing law. Randy received an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1998. He clerked for the Chief Justice of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice from 1998-1999. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2000, Randy quickly became a well-respected lawyer in the areas of litigation and securities law: first with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP as an associate, and then as a founding partner of Rueter Scargall Bennett LLP in 2004. He was as dedicated to his clients as he was to his family and friends. A private visitation for family will take place at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (at Windermere, just east of the Jane subway) on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 1- 3 p.m. A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held at Woodbine Racetrack, 555 Rexdale Blvd., on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 7 - 9 p.m. All are welcome. Donations in Randy’s name can be made to the Law Society Foundation Lawyers Feed the Hungry Program at http://www.lawyersfeedthehungry.ca/toronto
